Who is Design Support Studio

A personal, Designer-led Support Studio for Interior Designers

Nicola Lockwood

Founder & Lead Designer

I’m Nicola, the founder of Design Support Studio.

I trained and worked as an Interior Designer before spending more than six years supporting other designers behind the scenes. During that time, I worked closely within design workflows — supporting everything from documentation and presentations to sourcing, coordination, and delivery.

What I saw again and again was talented designers carrying too much on their own. Not because they lacked ideas or capability, but because the workload around delivering projects had grown faster than their capacity.

I created Design Support Studio to change that. When you work with Design Support Studio, you work directly with me. I remain your main point of contact and I am closely involved in every project, ensuring support aligns with your workflow, standards, and design intent.

Behind the scenes, I’m supported by a small specialist team that assists with production work, such as 3D visualisation and drafting plans. This structure allows me to offer reliable, high-quality support while keeping the working relationship personal, consistent, and collaborative.

My goal is simple: to support your projects in a way that makes your workload more sustainable and your studio easier to run, without compromising creativity, control, or quality.

Our Studio Model

Design Support Studio operates as a personal, relationship-led studio, not a high-volume agency.

This model exists to protect consistency. Interior design support works best when the same person understands your workflow, standards, and preferences over time — not when projects are distributed across a rotating pool of assistants.

Rather than scaling through volume, the studio is intentionally kept small so every project receives focused attention and clear oversight. Support is structured to feel stable, responsive, and aligned — even as workloads increase.

This approach allows us to build long-term working relationships where communication becomes easier, quality remains consistent, and support feels integrated rather than outsourced.
