The Martinez Family Houston Texas

Before the project

This family lived in a large single house in Houston, Texas, and decided to downsize once all their children had grown up and flown the nest. They bought a dream condo for the value of $360,000 that includes three bedrooms and three bathrooms. They thought this would be the best way to put plenty of money in the bank and live the years coming up to retirement with plenty of security. The condo looked over a golf course as this is their favorite pastime.

Although they have plenty of savings, they decided on a budget of $15,000 to furnish and decorate two bedrooms. They wanted a guest room that would be used regularly by their large family and friends. They wanted the guest room to have a bathroom ensuite and a sunny balcony where guests could sit, have a drink looking over the golf course. The other spare bedroom they wanted to make into an office as they liked to keep all their finances in order and up to date. They hadn’t moved in yet as they were finishing off the final paperwork on the house they were moving from.

The finished project

They wanted the guest room designed with a coastal theme, to be comfortable and functional. They wanted plenty of storage and a place to put on makeup near a full-length mirror. The room had a bathroom ensuite and a closet but wanted more solutions added. Although they had plenty of furniture and didn’t want to buy for the rest of the condo, they wanted all brand new furniture for these two rooms, including the balcony. To give the room a real coastal feel. The designer added a wooden wall feature in the design behind the bed, and a coral pattern wallpaper complemented with sea color paints.
